What I’ve been doing since 1977! I’ve been married to Mitchelle Barton for 20 years. Mitchelle taught high school English in Texas while I finished graduate school. She is currently the project director for the Teaching American History grant. We have wonderful, talented daughter, Allie. Allie is in the ninth grade. She won the Oklahoma Teachers of English Short Story contest last year and performed in the Ada Community Theater production of “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” this year. I liked school so much I made a career of it. I was on the six year plan at Marshall and graduated in 1983 with a B.A. in History. I earned my M.A. in History from Texas A&M (Gig’em Aggies) in 1987 and my Ph.D. in History from Texas A&M in 1991. I taught at Iowa State University and New Mexico State University as a visiting assistant professor after I finished at A&M. I moved to East Central University, located in Ada, OK, in 1993. I’m currently the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
My fondest memories of high school and living in the C-K communities!
