Note: Bob’s profile was composed by his wife Paula. What I’ve been doing since 1977! After graduation Bob returned to Curwensville. He went to IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) majoring in Journalism. During summers off from college he worked at Grandview Golf Course on the Greens Crew. After college he accepted a position at the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club (CCCC) as Greens Superintendent and is still employed at the Club. Bob lost his Dad, Bob the first or the "Main Moon" as some of you knew him, April 25, 1985. In October 1988 Bob married me (Paula) and when asked how long he has been married Bob quickly replies ... "at least 100 years" Bob's home is an old farmhouse built in 1886. It has a barn, summer kitchen, orchard, 3 acres and all of the usual maintenance required of a house over 120 years old. Bob's sister Cathy, C-K Class of 1967, passed on January 29, 2005. She is very much missed. Sisters Carolyn and Mary Elizabeth and Mom Bernice are doing well. After Rigsby, Bogart became the "Esh" dog. He was part German shepherd and part elk hound with a nasty set of fangs and an attitude to match! Through the years Bob has remained very sports oriented from recreational basketball... softball leagues...golf... as well as coaching from boys varsity basketball assistant coach to head coach to elementary girls and varsity girls assistant coach... This past season Bob's girls Basketball team made it to district finals and qualified for state playoffs. Many of the girls from the Basketball team were also members of the Softball team and "Coach E" followed, supported and encouraged the team through the State Championship. As you can tell by the photos, Bob is interested in history in general but specifically Rafting and the Civil War. His ancestors played a part in both Rafting and Civil War history. He says he is a vault of useless information, I prefer to describe him as knowledgeable and possessing an excellent memory! At Bloody Knox he helps to make maple syrup each spring, gives tours of the cabin and was part of the Bloody Knox Civil War Shootout reenactment. He is a member of the Clearfield County Historical Society Board of Directors and assists visitors of the genealogy department. For more information on the Society visit www.clfdhistory.org . One of Bob's favorite movies is Caddy Shack. Bob can recite from memory all of Carl Spackler's lines and nearly all of the dialog of the rest of the cast. He does a great imitation Carl and Ty both!! As odd as it may sound coming from a Groundhog Day Fan, groundhogs are off limits in Bob's yard. In fact they are on the varmint hit list but not with "plastic explosives" instead Bob prefers .22 caliber. He lives outside of the city limits. Bob enjoys landscaping (sometimes), is a loyal Steelers fan (Go Big Ben), counts down the days to February 1st & 2 nd (Groundhog Day), enjoys the ocean, playing Canasta, sometimes prays for snow in September (end of the golf season), has a quick wit and good sense of humor and Gary Larson's Far Side comics are his favorite
My fondest memories of high school and living in the C-K communities! Bob most misses all of the friends he made at C-K. He still tells stories about C-K times and remembers his friends fondly. |
